Where Vision Meets the Vice
At FOLM Manufacturing, we believe that a designer’s sketch is a promise—and our job is to keep it. When Daniel Evwibovwe and Anthony ‘Ladeji of CoDesign Africa approached us with the concept for the DE.AL Set, we didn't just see technical drawings. We saw a narrative of movement, hustle, and the raw necessity of a workspace that works as hard as its owner.
The DE.AL Set (named for Daniel Evwibovwe and Anthony 'Ladeji) wasn't born in a vacuum. It was forged in the reality of their journey—from makeshift planks at project sites to the high-stakes boardrooms of Vibranium Valley and the UNDP. Our mission at FOLM was to take that spirit of "the kitchen table MVP" and elevate it into a piece of permanent, world-class craftsmanship.
Material as Foundation
The transition from a "daydream" to a functional workstation requires more than just machinery; it requires an obsession with detail. For the DE.AL Set, we focused on the deliberate union of three pillars:
- Timber: Selected for its grain and resilience, representing the stability needed for deep work.
- Metal: Precision-engineered to provide a structural skeleton that is strong yet visually light.
- Fabric: Integrated to add a layer of tactile refinement, softening the industrial edges.
From Prototype to Presence
A table is often the first thing built when a dream gets serious. Daniel told us how their first custom table in their Lagos studio became the "center of the process"—the place where deals were won.
In fabricating the DE.AL Set, we aimed to replicate that "anchor" feeling. It’s heavy enough to feel permanent and reliable, yet designed with a structural openness that allows a room to breathe. Whether it sits in a home office in South Carolina or a studio in Lagos, our fabrication process ensures it arrives ready to hold the weight of the next big idea.
A Collaboration of Makers and Thinkers
The DE.AL Set is a testament to what happens when designers and makers stop working in silos and start working in sync. At FOLM, we don’t just manufacture furniture; we build the infrastructure for the future.
